The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh

The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh serving Allegheny and Beaver Counties has led the way in protecting the rights of and promoting opportunities for children and adults with disabilities, has provided support and education to families, and has influenced public opinion and legislation.  Serving the community since 1956, The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh continues its role as the heart and soul of the ACHIEVA family of organizations through its grassroots efforts and its well recognized ability to create systemic change not only for families in the Pittsburgh area but throughout the nation.

Formerly Arc Allegheny and Arc of Beaver County, The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh is a membership organization whose more than 1,000 members make it the largest chapter affiliated with the Arc of Pennsylvania and one of the largest chapters nationwide affiliated with the Arc of the United States. "Tapping into the advocacy resources provided by the Arc of Greater Pittsburgh has proven to be invaluable for our family.  Through Arc-sponsored training, we learned of the intersection between the various systems that provide supports and services for our son now and as he ages.  Those trainings and the Arc advocates essentially decoded the system to point us in the right direction to become effective advocates for our son and for us to assist other families."
