Advocacy > Training and Education Training and EducationThe Pennsylvania Training Partnership for People with Disabilities and Families: The Partnership
ACHIEVA has been chosen as one of five organizations in the State by the Office of Developmental Programs and the Department of Public Welfare to provide training to families and self advocates.
Knowledge of the system serving people with disabilities allows people to:
- Move through the system more easily
- Use the system more fully
- Change the system more effectively
The Partnership makes available coordinated, consistent training and technical assistance across the Commonwealth. This training is created and provided by people with disabilities and families. The Partnership breaks ground for people with disabilities and families, offering knowledge, power, and assistance to citizens eager to belong and contribute to their communities.

Workshop/Webinar Series
Workshops are presented by knowledgeable speakers addressing a variety of issues parents and other caregivers confront in raising and caring for a person with disabilities from birth to adulthood. These workshops are also available to educate and increase awareness for support coordinators, direct care staff, and educators. Sessions are available throughout the year at various geographic sites. Sessions will be recorded and made available via our Webinars.
Webinar - Short for Web-based seminar, a webinar is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information.
These online seminars use Webex to make them actual, live interactive learning experiences. Participants will be able to ask the instructor questions and get answers in real time. The instructor will be able to conduct polls and ask questions. Participants will receive course materials by e-mail prior to the seminar and will be able to view the instructor's PowerPoint slides during the seminar. These types of online courses have a much higher impact than simply reading material on the web. Webinars offer exceptional convenience and are very cost-effective. They are ideal for brown-bag lunch training. No travel is required. Please register early as you need to have Webex set up on your computer.
