Supported Employment

ACHIEVA’s Supported Employment

ACHIEVA’S Supported Employment Department has provided consumer-driven services for more than twenty years. We are dedicated to helping people with disabilities achieve their dreams in regards regard to employment. ACHIEVA currently serves individuals in Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Green and Washington counties. ACHIEVA’s Supported Employment Department is committed to the following consumer-driven principles:

  • Provide individualized services based on client need
  • Place our clients in employment of their choice
  • Commit to honesty and integrity with the consumer, their family, and the employer
  • Offer training to help achieve success
  • Maintain open communication
  • Give every individual the chance to succeed in community-based employment
  • Work with a team approach in achieving these principles.

Pre-Employment Services

ACHIEVA’s pre-employment services include the following:

  • Volunteer Program gives people the chance to do meaningful work in the community while developing work habits and skills.
  • Social Skills Training helps people interact effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
  • Community-Based Assessments allows time to “try out” actual jobs while working under the supervision of a supported employment professional.
  • Benefits Planning and Assistance helps individuals and their support networks understand the relationship between increased income and government benefits.
  • Resume Writing and Assistance develops effective personal marketing materials to support a job search.
  • Interview Training and Mock Interviews develop interviewing skills and confidence.

Placement Services

  • Job Development and Placement Assistance help develop and implement a job search plans using various means to generate job leads, interviews, and job carving (creating a position from parts of various existing jobs).
  • Job Coaching / on the Job Training teaches how to succeed in a new work situation by providing the assistance of an employment specialist.

Ticket to Work

ACHIEVA’s Ticket to Work program provides pre-employment and placement services to Social Security beneficiaries that want to earn enough money to stop their cash benefits while maintaining their medical benefits.

School to Work Transition Services

ACHIEVA’s School to Work Transition program provides services to help students prepare for competitive employment. These skills are achieved through in-class and practical instruction, pre-employment skills training, job touring, job shadowing, and community-based assessment.
