Donations from your IRA
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows for people aged 70½ to make a donation to a charity directly from their IRA. The distributions are tax-free and will avoid penalties for early withdrawl. Donors are allowed to donate up to $100,000 per year through their 401k. This provision is only in effect for 2006 and 2007.
This may be of great benefit if you:
* Age 70½ or older and;
* Are required to take a distribution from your IRA or
* Do not itemize deductions on your taxes or
* Charitable gifts already equal 50% of your adjusted gross income or
* Are subject to the 2% rule that reduces your itemized deductions.

Planned Giving
Deferred Gifts – the Legacy Society – created in 2006, the Legacy Society is comprised solely of individuals who have included ACHIEVA in their estate plans. If you have included us in your estate plans please let us know by contacting David Tinker, CFRE at dtinker@achieva.info or at 412-995-5000 ext. 436.
To include ACHIEVA in your will, you may use the following:
"I give, devise and bequeath to ACHIEVA, a Pennsylvania not-for-profit corporation with offices presently located at 711 Bingham Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15203, the sum of $____."
ACHIEVA also can benefit from planned giving opportunities such as charitable remainder trusts or charitable gift annuities. We may also benefit from insurance policies. Grants
Grants from companies and foundations have supported ACHIEVA’s efforts to create new programs and services for people with intellectual disabilities. They have also supported programs that have been in effect for more than 50 years. Stock
Appreciated stock can be a tax burden for you. However, donating the appreciated stock to ACHIEVA could provide you with a tax benefit. Please contact the development office to find out how this can help you and us at the same time.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many companies make donations to agencies their employees support. Some also support the gifts of spouses and retirees. If your company has a matching gift program, please contact the human resources department or ACHIEVA’s Director of Development, David Tinker, CFRE, at dtinker@achieva.info or at 412-995-5000 ext. 436.
Ticket Donations
Individuals and families that receive services from ACHIEVA would greatly appreciate receiving free tickets to cultural and sporting events. If you have tickets to an event that you would like to donate, please contact David Tinker, CFRE at dtinker@achieva.info or at 412-995-5000 ext. 436.
United Way and Combined Federal Campaign
ACHIEVA participates in the United Way Contributor’s Choice program. Our United Way number is 161.
ACHIEVA also participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Our CFC number is 8965.
