ACHIEVA Early Intervention’s Therapist Spotlight!
Meet Judy Lalama, a licensed Occupational Therapist who has been in practice for 34 years. Licensed and board certified, Judy attended Misericordia University and the University of Pittsburgh, and has been with ACHIEVA Early Intervention for over twenty years.
“I became a therapist because I wanted to work with children”, notes Judy; “early intervention is the ultimate place for me to practice because I feel like I can make the most positive impact getting into the home environment and working directly with the child and parents on those individual routines that are unique to each child and family”.
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association, early intervention occupational therapists work with children to help them succeed in daily activities (occupations), such as playing, learning, and socializing. From creating bedtime and bath time routines to teaching and establishing self-care habits, occupational therapists work with both the child and the family to ensure success.
Judy resides in the South Hills with her husband John, and daughters Jess and Julia, and their teacup Morkie, Oreo.
