Bob and his family first met with Achieva in 2011, when he was first looking at potential residential opportunities through ACHIEVA Supports. Bob has worked in the community for over two decades and always knew that one day he would have his own place to call home. It was not until 2014 when Bob decided it was time to get his own place and reside with a roommate of his choice.
Through “A Home of My Own” with Achieva, Bob’s dream became a reality. On November 3, 2014, Bob moved into an apartment complex conveniently located near his family home in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. During this time, Bob was also introduced to another family that was interested in moving a loved one into his own apartment through “A Home of My Own.” From their first introduction, both guys immediately hit it off and have not looked back. Bob and his roommate have already created many lasting memories and both look forward to making many more to come in the future.
Bob relaxes after work by enjoying community outings with his roommate and staff. He enjoys movies, TiVo, volunteering for the Children’s Hospital Blood Drives, loves to discuss politics and public affairs, and going to Pittsburgh museums, especially the Carnegie Science Center.
