ACHIEVA's Community Participation service is designed to integrate people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) into the greater community along with persons without disabilities. Through relationships with local organizations, we provide volunteer experiences, community engagement and informal educational opportunities.
ACHIEVA strives to provide supports that are individualized, flexible and tailored to fit specific participant needs. Individuals learn about themselves and the world around them through structured and enriching integrated opportunities.
The rewarding community experiences encourage social readiness and skill development, and nurture self-expression, independence and confidence. Individuals learn to self-advocate and take responsibility of oneself while being provided choice and control.
Community experiences focus on:
- Arts & Creative Expression
- Development of Social Skills
- Advocacy & Self-Advocacy
- Health and Wellness
