A family guide to understanding and supporting emotional regulation


Objectives:

  • Discuss ways families can help at home and partner with school staff

PRESENTER BIO:  Dr. Maria Paul, Ed.D. is a student and family-centered administrator with more than 26 years of experience in special education and instructional leadership. She currently serves as a Program Officer for Pittsburgh Public Schools, where she oversees Covid Compensatory Services, Extended School Year programming, and compliance monitoring across multiple schools.
A former Multiple Disabilities Teacher, Dr. Paul has extensive expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis, assistive technology, and disability advocacy. She co-authored the district’s RISE Rubric for Center-Based School Buildings and was recognized as a 2021 Pittsburgh Pirate All-Star Teacher. In addition, she is an Adjunct Instructor at Robert Morris University and an Infant & Toddler Evaluator for the Alliance for Infants and Toddlers, Inc.

Dr. Paul holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership & Administration from Point Park University, and she is certified in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Principalship. She is dedicated to advancing inclusive, equitable practices that empower students with exceptionalities to reach their fullest potential.
