Why should an IEP become a Student-Led IEP? Because the Student-Led IEP process benefits us all! This session will introduce participants to the advantages of SLIEPs and also provide advice on how to get started with the SLIEP process.

Bio – Jennifer Geibel
Jennifer Geibel is an educational consultant with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN), and is the office lead for the Family Engagement, Assistive Technology, and Speech-Language Initiatives in the PaTTAN-West office. Dr. Geibel has also developed numerous trainings and online materials dealing with the topic of Student-Led IEPS. Prior to working at PaTTAN, Dr. Geibel worked with hundreds of children and their families as a speech-language pathologist, music therapist, and music teacher. She is also a Supervisor of Special Education and received her doctorate in special education from the University of Pittsburgh.
Bio – David Floria
David Floria is a recent high school graduate and a freshman at Delaware County Community College. As a life skills student at a cyber-charter school, David successfully self-advocated to take regular technology courses to help him prepare to succeed as a video game design major when he transfers to a four-year university. David is an active member of the Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Network and has presented about SLIEPs at numerous educational events. Outside of school, he enjoys many hobbies, including drawing, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and reading comics and manga.
