Achieva Named Vibrant Champion for Advancing Diversity and Inclusion

Since 1951, Achieva has worked to include and empower people with disabilities to live their fullest, most independent lives. With over seventy years of dedication, Achieva works to ensure that every individual is supported in their pursuit of self-determination and active participation in all aspects of community life. Disability is the largest minority group in the United States and Achieva is committed to supporting and advancing the rights, opportunities, and dignity of every person with a disability, no matter their race/ethnicity, age, gender, etc..

Achieva has always centered its mission on advocacy for people with disabilities, and several years ago the organization took an intentional step forward by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as one of seven strategic priorities in support of that mission. This commitment is more than just a value statement. It is a business imperative that influences how Achieva serves people with disabilities, builds its workforce, and develops leadership at the board and executive levels.

That dedication has now been recognized through Vibrant Pittsburgh’s Vibrant Index 6.0, where Achieva was named a Vibrant Champion, one of only eight organizations to earn this distinction in 2025.

To receive the Vibrant Champion designation, organizations must score at least 95 percent in seven of the nine Vibrant Index pillars:

  • Data & Accountability
  • Talent Recruitment & Retention
  • Supplier Diversity
  • Community Engagement

This is the first time Achieva has received the Vibrant Champion designation in the six years participating. This recognition affirms Achieva’s sustained progress and leadership in creating a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
