Four Years Later, Fond Memories of the Victims Remain

Four years ago, the city of Pittsburgh was collectively stunned and saddened by the tragedy that shook the tight-knit community of Squirrel Hill. Within the Achieva family, the loss of Cecil and David Rosenthal (two gentlemen who had received services from the organization for over 20 years) was felt by those who knew them well and by those who knew them only through tales of their lighthearted antics and captivating personalities. Today, we fondly remember Cecil and David, along with the nine other victims. Their memory lives on.
The Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund
Created to support community engagement activities pursued by people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), The Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund was created following the October 27, 2018 tragedy when donations to Achieva were amassed in their memory. In keeping with the way the public embraced and included Cecil and David in various facets of daily life, the Fund awards grants to help other people with IDD lead a life of personal significance.
